Brighton Beach is located at the northern end of the South Road level crossing, with station access from South and Beach Roads, and Menzies Avenue.
The station consists of an island format and a side platform, with two on a sharp curve; Platform 1 & 2 (island platform) has a large brick building housing an enclosed waiting area, ticket facilities and toilets, while platform 3 has a smaller brick building. A large Metcard ticket vending machine is located at the entrance to platforms 1 & 2, which is able to dispense most ticketing options available and also accept notes and coins. A small coin-only Metcard ticket vending machine is located at the entrance to platform 3, as well as at the footbridge entrance to platforms 1 & 2. Brighton Beach is the only premium station still to have an active old booking office and toilets.
A rail yard is located adjacent to platform 1. This yard was originally used for stabling, but was converted to a siding for the VICERS project. Works started in 2010 to reinstate the stabling facilities at Brighton Beach Station. Two trains will be able to be stored at night, and the currently disused platform 1 will be reinstated.[1]A footbridge is situated at the Flinders Street end of the station, whilst a signal box is situated at the end of platform 2, at the Sandringham end of the station.
The crossing of the Sandringham railway line, at New Street, just prior to Brighton Beach Station was the last to use the traditional, man operated boom gates. However, this crossing is now closed permanently after a series of accidents.[2]
